HORIBA Europe GmbH offers a wide range of instruments and systems for various applications worldwide. Products for the automotive testing industry, process and environmental technology, medical diagnostics, semiconductor manufacturing and the field of molecular & elemental analysis for research, quality control and laboratory analysis.
Initial situation and project aims:
In the past, Horiba already used shuttle lifts without SAP connection for the storage of small parts. The operation and maintenance of the lifts became increasingly difficult and expensive in recent years.
Therefore, Horiba commissioned the company Kardex Deutschland GmbH to install four new lifts as part of a new procurement and expansion of the existing shuttle lifts. In the future, these were to be controlled directly from SAP as well as the existing mobile applications based on the SAP add-on solution Mobysis. The individual storage bins of these lifts and all other storage bins were to be included in a new storage location without having to introduce SAP WM and fundamentally change the existing processes.
In the project, two database tables were set up in SAP IM to map the storage bins and their stocks as well as the serial numbers of the materials stored there. This made it possible to conveniently avoid the introduction of SAP WM.
Mobile transactions are used to control goods movements within the newly created storage location. With simplified, user-friendly dialogs, storage and retrieval, inventory bookings and the control of the Kardex Shuttle can be triggered via mobile devices in the warehouse.
