SAP EWM on S/4HANA
In recent months, SAP has specified the roadmap for the maintenance of the various SAP products (see infographic). For many companies, this means that a move from the classic SAP warehouse management systems (WM or EWM 9.x) to an EWM on S/4HANA is coming ever closer. There are several things to consider here:
- Should the WM processes in the form of Stock Room Management be retained or migrated to the more modern, advanced SAP EWM?
- Should EWM be used decentrally on its own S/4HANA server or embedded in S/4HANA Enterprise Management?
- If the EWM is running embedded: Should it be used as basic EWM with reduced functionality or with full functionality as advanced EWM?
- What is the strategy for migrating the ERP processes? Should the ERP scopes be migrated before, after or at the same time as the warehouse management processes are moved to EWM on S/4HANA?
To find the best option and strategy, issues such as general IT strategy, system architecture, available resources, budget and licensing costs, and of course the processes to be implemented must be considered. We are happy to support you in this process. The aforementioned topics are first discussed and analyzed in a structured manner in workshops lasting one to several days. In doing so, the individual points are roughly evaluated together with you in advance. As a basis for decision-making, we subsequently draw up the necessary documents. Alternative scenarios are worked out, different roadmaps and process plans are prepared, and a rough cost estimate is made for implementing the different approaches. As a system house, we can also comprehensively consult and include the topic of license costs and maintenance. Together with our partner psb intralogstics GmbH, the topics material flow and automated warehouse can additionally be evaluated in detail from the process definition to the control level and hardware. The results are presented to you in a results presentation. After a decision has been made, the documents usually serve as a basis for tender documents for a migration project.
